The skin immune system protects us from sunburn, cancer, injury, infection, etc. If your skin immune system is high, your skin will fight the outside environment.
Your skin immunity comes not only from outside care but also from intensive internal care.
Good lifestyle habits such as a rejuvenating facial make your skin healthy while a bad lifestyle ruins your skin. Treat yourself regularly with a soothing facial treatment that’s customized for your skin and its needs. These facial treatments give you a radiant skin that’s brimming with health. If you are not sure where to get one, you can always look up your location along with what you are looking for, for example, Googling “facial near me in Lacey Township, NJ” will help you achieve the results you want so you can find an expert in your area.
So, let your skin flourish, and become healthy with simple changes; otherwise, you may see skin issues at an early age.
Here are my lifestyle recommendations for boosting your skin immunity.
Safety Disclaimer
Before you use any new product on your skin, apply a little bit of amount below the ear or on hands for 24-48 hours to check for any reaction. You must follow this rule for any kind of product, whether it is ayurvedic, dermatologically tested, or natural.
1. Check Product Quality
Most chemical-based products are harmful to the skin. They do not leave an adverse impact on your skin immediately; instead, they gradually ruin your skin tissues over time.
What Should You Do?
- You must check the product’s ingredients before buying them.
- Choose paraben free, SLS free, and sulphate free products.
- Go for branded products.
2. Skin Diet
Caring your skin from the outside is not enough. You must include omega-3 fats, zinc, probiotics, selenium, polyphenols, collagen, vitamin A, vitamin C in your diet. The following foods improve the health of your skin cells:
- Sweet potatoes and soy protect your skin from sun damage and improve your dry & wrinkled skin.
- Broccoli prevents skin cancer and sunburn.
- Dark chocolate provides hydration to your skin, improves skin thickness & texture.
- Red grapes slow the aging of your skin.
- Orange, lemon, tomatoes, red, or yellow bell peppers contain vitamin C, which keeps your skin firm, shiny & healthy.
What Should You Do?
- For acne-prone or oily skin, you must avoid cheese & chilly for dinner. Dairy products can lead to acne, and chilly increases the irritation on your acne.
- Avoid high sodium food for dry skin.
- Drink 6-7 glasses of water in a day also helps along with the above foods.
3. Remove Makeup
Removing your face and eye makeup is a must-do step to do at night. If you skip this step, your skin produces wrinkles, acne, fine lines seven times faster. Stubborn, sticky, waterproof foundation, eyeliner, and matte lipsticks don’t go easily from your face. So you could remove it either naturally or with a ready-made makeup remover.
What Should You Do?
- Remove your makeup with coconut oil or any cold-pressed oil, if you have dry skin.
- For oily skin, raw milk is best.
- All the above ingredients work well on normal skin.
- Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is a fantastic makeup remover that is good for all skin types. It is non-oily, non-sticky, fragrance-free & cleans your skin thoroughly with one-swipe.
4. Night Care
An essential step for healthy & glowing skin is to sleep for 7-8 hours daily at night. Nighttime is ideal for skincare as your skin repairs and makes new collagen when you are fast asleep. So when you use the right skin care product and follow healthy habits, you will see dramatic skin results at night than daytime.
What Should You Do?
- Wash your face with soap or cleanser before going to bed.
- Moisturize your skin with a skincare product, which helps to give the best result.
- Apply overnight masks on your face. Green tea and potato face-mask is a boon for your skin. Mix 1 tbsp potato juice and 1 tbsp brewed (cooled) green tea. Apply this mixture and let it dry for 30 minutes before going to bed.
5. Detoxify
Drinking lemon water in the morning is well-known for its weight loss properties. But did you know this drink also helps to boost your skin health and improve the glow on your skin?
What Should You Do?
- Take half of the lemon juice and one glass of water. Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. That’s it.
- If lemon doesn’t suit you, you could drink only water.
- Lukewarm water is suitable for winters, and normal water is perfect for summers. Hydration is key to good skin.
6. Be Kind To Your Skin
Popping your pimples will leave scars on your skin. Avoid this bad habit and follow the below helpful tips for sensitive, dry, red & itchy skin.
What Should You Do?
- Wash that area with cold water or rub ice cubes.
- Gently rub or dry your skin with a cotton cloth.
- Moisturize your skin with a day and night cream.
7. Clean your Pillow Covers and Bedsheets
You don’t have to plan big to maintain your skin hygiene. Take care of your skin by maintaining basic hygiene and cleaning routine.
What Should You Do?
- Clean your pillowcase and bed sheet once in 2 weeks.
- If you are suffering from sensitive skin or any skin issue, then you must use a pillowcase or bed sheet made of pure cotton.
8. Clean your Makeup Brushes
You should clean your foundation and concealer brushes in 7-10 days. And the brushes you use around the eyes should be cleaned twice a month.
What Should You Do?
- Soak your brushes in a mixture of warm water and mild shampoo or soap.
- Leave them for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with water after massaging the brushes.
- Squeeze the extra water with a soft and dry towel.
I have included very simple, money-saving, and effective tips that can be followed by anyone easily whether you are a working woman, a housewife, or a mom. And whatever I have mentioned (except one or two things like makeup related steps) is also helpful for men.
In conclusion, self-care is not selfish. It’s showing love and kindness to your body.
