Limbo #FFFAW #FlashFiction

Mohan and lil´Anu shrieked in unison looking at the boat cruise approaching them. Sandhya held her daughter´s hand and followed her husband inside. She felt increasingly less human and more robot by the day.

´Wow Mummy! Did you see that BIG shark?´

Sandhya smiled dispassionately staring into the blank spaces caring less for any of the menacing sharks around.

The foreign land generously welcomed her husband and daughter as their own but alienated her. All her heart desired was to escape the limbo that arose from the dreaded H4 Visa curse.

    • Hi Sunita! I think sometimes external surroundings do tend to affect your state of mind and being as well. Of course, one must count one´s blessings but it takes a while for some people to attain that stage of self-realization. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your views. Keep reading! Cheers!

      • I agree that external surroundings affect our state of mind. I just feel it is very sad because it deprives us of the present. Like if she shared in the awe of her daughter on seeing the shark, it would have been a few seconds of happiness and a few less of misery.

      • Absolutely! That´s the way it ought to be. It´s important to count your blessings which people in depression sometimes forget and find it hard to relate and be happy 🙂
